I can’t speak for everyone but the heat and humidity took a toll on my round tonight. I was ready to pack it in after three holes and based on my score, I should have. I like the heat but golfing in a sauna is frowned upon for a reason. But we made it and hopefully we see a cool down soon. Lyle Williams fires at the ninth hole.
In the evenings matches, the Southpaws moved into a tie for first after the Fat Shafts faltered. The Rolling Stones sit alone in third just ahead of the KGB. There’s still lots of time to make moves and improve your playoff positioning.
Taking all six points in their matches were Grip It N Sip It, Southpaws, Rolling Stones and Whizbangers. The Latecomers and Dubbers grabbed four points each. Two points went to the Fat Shafts and KGB.
The closest to the pin winners were Dave Walker for the second week in a row, this time on hole 2 and Eric Korver on hole 11. The 50/50 winner was Kevin Wadsworth.
See you next Wednesday as we return to the hopefully more forgiving white tees.

Feeling Hot Hot Hot

Wildfires Won't Stop Us
The smokey conditions and poor air quality from the wildfires to the north and in Quebec cleared out enough in time for tonight’s round.
Looking at the scores I think some took advantage of the improved conditions while others clearly had smoke in their eyes. Andrew Moran shot an impressive round of 28 which was one stroke shy of tying the individual low gross.
In the evenings matches it was another night of clean sweeps as Grip It N Sip It, Rolling Stones, Fat Shafts, KGB, Southpaws and Wedgers all took six points.
The closest to the pin winners were Andrew Moran on hole 7 and Matt Knell on hole 16. The 50/50 winner was Eric Korver.
Back to the white tees next week.

Thanks also to Alida and Tom St.Denis for their work to keep things safe and running smoothly at the clubhouse and for the exemplary playing conditions all season long. If all goes well, I know we hope to return to our usual playoff format and party next year.
Just a reminder, for those who would still like to get out and play, we are still meeting each Wednesday night at 5:30pm to play for fun. It's usually a friendly round of best ball in teams so we hope to see you out. If not, have a safe and enjoyable Fall and Winter and we'll see you next season.

Regular Season Nearly Done
I don't know if it was the heat or the blue tees but low scoring rounds were hard to come by tonight with not one team shooting a sub-100 round. Andy Koetstra had the lowest individual score of the night shooting a 31.
With just one week left to play, playoff positions have yet to be decided officially and a lot could change in the final round next Wednesday night. Once things have been finalized and I have received the playoff schedule and format, I will try to get it up here as quickly as possible.
In tonight's action the Whizbangers, Dubbers and Southpaws all took six points. The Fat Shafts, Wedgers and KGB all earned four points while two points each went to the Rolling Stones, Fivesome and CCCP.
The Closest to the Pin winners were Dave Schwartz on hole #1 and Eric Korver on hole #10. The 50/50 winner was Kory Hietala.

Fivesome Jump To Fourth
With the standings being as tight as they are, it's no surprise that things can change quickly one week to the next.
For the Fivesome, who took five points tonight, that moved them up several places into fourth place, albeit by a slim margin.
In other action tonight, the CCCP and Latecomers were the only teams to sweep all six points. The Fat Shafts took five points while the Rolling Stones and Southpaws earned four points each. The Dubbers and KGB took two points while the Wedgers and Whizbangers settled for single points each.
The Closest to the Pin winners tonight were Andrew Brennan on hole #7 and Eric Korver on hole #16. The 50/50 winner was Ian Rogers.
No video this week. I was bribed to erase all evidence. See you next Wednesday.

2020 Playoffs - Round Two
That's it for the Blue Tees for this year and for some of us, it's welcome news as they proved to be troublesome on night two of the playoffs.
In the "A" Division the standings remain relatively tight and with two weeks remaining a good round by one team or a bad round by another could have a serious impact on things.
The Southpaws moved into first place by themselves with a low round of 94 for the night. That gives them an eight stroke lead over the second place Whizbangers and and nine stroke lead on the Dubbers and Rolling Stones. The KGB had a good night and are ten strokes back while the Fat Shafts continue to struggle and sit in last place 13 strokes off the pace.
The low rounds of the night were turned in by Jim Conley and Tim Donaldson who both shot 28. Kevin Wadsworth posted a two over par round of 29. Andy Koetstra won the Closest to the Pin prize on hole #2.
Over in the "B" Division, the Fivesome have a fairly comfortable lead. They shot a score of 107 and sit eight shots ahead of the Wedgers who turned in a score of 105. The Hackers are well back in third and are one stroke ahead of the Bogies.
Scott Reilly had the low round on this side shooting a 31. Eric Korver was close enough on hole #11 to win the Closest to the Pin.
Next week we start the last two weeks of playoffs with both week on the White tees. Check your tee times and we'll see you there.

Bring your Toonies for the putting contest and it could be a chilly evening so bring some warm clothes. Now I sound like your mother. See you Saturday afternoon.

Hole in One for Wilky
![]() |
Al Wilkinson aced hole #2 tonight. |
The Individual Low Gross leader board also got a bit more crowded as Tim Donaldson shot a round of even par 27 to tie the three others at that low score for the year. There's still two weeks left for someone try and beat them.
Scoring was spread out tonight with only the KGB and Rolling Stones taking all six point in their matches. Elsewhere the Hackers, Fat Shafts, Whizbangers and Latecomers took four points each while two points went to the Bogies, CCCP, Dubbers and Fivesome.
The Closest to the pin winners were Tim Donaldson on hole #6 and Symen Korver on hole #15. The 50/50 winner was Dustin McLeod.

Heat Doesn't Help
The lowest team score of the evening was a 104 and Scott Reilly shot a solid round of 32 but nobody challenged the low scores of the year.
The first place Fat Shafts were gifted six points after the second place Whizbangers were unable to field a team. Earning six points tonight were the now second place KGB, Bogies and Hackers. Four points each went to the CCCP and Dubbers while the Southpaws and Wedgers grabbed two points.

Swing & Sweat
The low round turned in by several golfers was 32 which is a tad higher than normal. I know by the end of my round, gripping the club was proving difficult at times but we made it. Hopefully by next week the temps drop a few degrees.
Four teams managed to sweep all their matches as the KGB, Hackers, Fat Shafts and Rolling Stones each took six points. The Dubbers and Southpaws earned four points each while the Bogies and Wedgers took two points each.
The closest to the pin winners were Don St.Denis on hole #9 and Kyle Wilkinson on hole #18. The 50/50 winner this week was Eric Korver.
