I can’t speak for everyone but the heat and humidity took a toll on my round tonight. I was ready to pack it in after three holes and based on my score, I should have. I like the heat but golfing in a sauna is frowned upon for a reason. But we made it and hopefully we see a cool down soon. Lyle Williams fires at the ninth hole.
In the evenings matches, the Southpaws moved into a tie for first after the Fat Shafts faltered. The Rolling Stones sit alone in third just ahead of the KGB. There’s still lots of time to make moves and improve your playoff positioning.
Taking all six points in their matches were Grip It N Sip It, Southpaws, Rolling Stones and Whizbangers. The Latecomers and Dubbers grabbed four points each. Two points went to the Fat Shafts and KGB.
The closest to the pin winners were Dave Walker for the second week in a row, this time on hole 2 and Eric Korver on hole 11. The 50/50 winner was Kevin Wadsworth.
See you next Wednesday as we return to the hopefully more forgiving white tees.

What A Smoke Show
The unprecedented wildfire season continues to bring very bad air quality to our area but luckily we got our round in tonight before the worst of it arrived.
Unfortunately a couple of teams must have had players get lost in the haze as they had to forfeit their matches this evening.
Denis Schick and Andy Koetstra played well tonight and both shot two over par rounds of 29. Al Wilkinson and Dave Horner both shot 30.
In the nights matches, the Fat Shafts, Whizbangers, KGB, CCCP and Rolling Stones took six points each. The Southpaws earned four points while the Fivesome took two points.
The closest to the pin winners were Ron Eliens on hole 1 and Dave Walker on hole 10. The 50/50 winner was Jared Culkin.
See you next Wednesday as we tackle the blue tees again.

Playoff Picture Getting Clearer
Did anyone notice the bugs tonight? The thunderstorms passed us by but the swarms of flying critters were definitely annoying as we completed the second last round of regular play.
Some teams were able to make moves and secure their playoff positions this evening. The Whizbangers and Southpaws clinched spots in the “A” flight by taking six points each in their matches. The Rolling Stones also earned six points and hold a five point lead over Grip It N Sip It, who took four points, for fourth place.
The Dubbers and KGB will be in the “B” flight after both teams were blanked tonight. The Fivesome still have a chance to get into the “B” flight if they can sneak past the Latecomers but it will come down to next week.
In other action, the Fat Shafts and Hackers each took six points while the CCCP earned two points.
The closest to the pin winners were Dave Walker on hole #8 and Mark Kennedy on hole #17. Ron Eliens was the 50/50 winner this week.
Back to the white tees next week to finish off the regular season. We’ll see you there.

Southpaws Remain Perfect
Some impressive golf was turned in once again as Tim Donaldson shot an even par 27 to join Andy Koetstra and Denis Schick for the Individual Low Gross lead. Andy also shot his second round of 27 tonight, just missing a birdie on the final hole. The Fat Shafts posted their second sub-90 round as a team shooting an 89. The Southpaws had an impressive 91 score as well.
The Southpaws remain the lone team after three weeks of play to not give up a single point in their matches after taking another six points tonight. The Fat Shafts also earned six points. The Dubbers sit in second spot after taking five points while the KGB also took five points. Four points went to the Fivesome giving the Rolling Stones two points. Single points were earned by the Wedgers and Whizbangers.
The Closest to the Pin winners were Kim Defosse on hole #3 and Taylor Rivando on hole #12. The 50/50 winner was Dave Walker.
Just a reminder to team captains to make sure your team is set for next Wednesday night and everyone knows their tee times.
