What a difference a week makes as the summer heat returned with a vengeance tonight. The sweltering conditions made things a bit uncomfortable for the second nine playoff holes and last from the white tees this year.
In the “A” Division things remain very tight heading into the final Saturday. The Rolling Stones now share the lead with Grip It N Sip It after shooting a 96. The Grips posted a 95 to tie things up. The Southpaws shot 97 tonight and sit three shots off the lead. The Fat Shafts shot 95 but still have a big hill to climb after a bad first nine and they sit 12 shots back.
Over in the “B” Division the Latecomers continue to lead thanks in part to Josh Hogan who shot an even par 27 which included a hole-in-one on hole 6. The Latecomers increased their lead to eight strokes over the KGB who posted a team score of 103. The Dubbers are 11 shots back with a 207 total while the Fivesome are well back in fourth.
The “C” Division saw the Whizbangers increase their lead slightly heading into Saturday as they shot 110 for a total of 218. The Wedgers are eight shots off the lead with a 226 total. Rounding out the division the CCCP sit in third and the Hackers are fourth.
The closest to the pin winners tonight were Jim Conley on hole 8 and Red Eliens on hole 17. Gerry Fox was the 50/50 winner.
Just a reminder that the final 18 holes from the blue tees goes this Saturday afternoon beginning at 2:30 p.m. The party will follow. As always, just a reminder to please do not drink and drive. Make sure you have a designated driver to pick you up if you plan to enjoy some evening beverages. If all goes well, I expect the putting contest to make a return again this year. See you Saturday.

Scobie Shoots Par
The blue tees proved to be a challenge for some again this week but for some it was a piece of cake. Paul Scobie had the low round of the night posting an even par 27. Marsh Ferguson fires away at hole 7.
Al Wilkinson and Andy Koetstra both shot two over 29 for the evening.
In the nights matches, four teams swept their opponents as the KGB, Southpaws, Fat Shafts and Dubbers all took six points. The Rolling Stones and CCCP came close by earning five points each while the Whizbangers and Hackers each settled for single points. The standings continue to be close with no one team running away with it at this point of the season.

2020 Playoffs - Round Two
That's it for the Blue Tees for this year and for some of us, it's welcome news as they proved to be troublesome on night two of the playoffs.
In the "A" Division the standings remain relatively tight and with two weeks remaining a good round by one team or a bad round by another could have a serious impact on things.
The Southpaws moved into first place by themselves with a low round of 94 for the night. That gives them an eight stroke lead over the second place Whizbangers and and nine stroke lead on the Dubbers and Rolling Stones. The KGB had a good night and are ten strokes back while the Fat Shafts continue to struggle and sit in last place 13 strokes off the pace.
The low rounds of the night were turned in by Jim Conley and Tim Donaldson who both shot 28. Kevin Wadsworth posted a two over par round of 29. Andy Koetstra won the Closest to the Pin prize on hole #2.
Over in the "B" Division, the Fivesome have a fairly comfortable lead. They shot a score of 107 and sit eight shots ahead of the Wedgers who turned in a score of 105. The Hackers are well back in third and are one stroke ahead of the Bogies.
Scott Reilly had the low round on this side shooting a 31. Eric Korver was close enough on hole #11 to win the Closest to the Pin.
Next week we start the last two weeks of playoffs with both week on the White tees. Check your tee times and we'll see you there.

Hughes Fires Low Gross
Only one week remains in the regular season and there's still several teams who have a chance to finish in the top spot. The Southpaws stumbled tonight losing all six points in their match with the Dubbers and have now slipped into a second place tie with them.
The Fat Shafts took six point in their match and the defending league and playoff champs have a slim one point lead at the top of the standings. The Rolling Stones also took six points and remain five points out of first place, however the Southpaws and Fat Shafts play each other next week so it will likely be either them or the Dubbers that will take the Covid19 shortened title.
In the other matches on the night, the Whizbangers and KGB also took all six points up for grabs. The Closest to the Pin winners were Ross Prophet on hole #8 and Kevin Wadsworth on hole #17. The 50/50 winner was Jim Conley.
As mentioned, next week is the final week of the regular season. The playoffs will start the following week with the top four teams playing each other in the "A" Division and the other six teams will battle in the "B" Division. It's my understanding that the first two weeks of playoffs will be from the Blue Tees and the last two weeks will be from the White Tees to ensure we have enough daylight. If I get any other details I'll post them here.
See you next week!

Conley Joins Group at 27
Also posting rounds of 27 were Andy Koetstra and Tim Donaldson who already reside on the Low Gross list. Denis Schick shot a 28 with three fives and three birdies in his round. He also missed a hole in one by two inches on hole #17.
The Southpaws increased their lead at the top of the standings slightly with only two weeks of regular season play remaining. The Fat Shafts and Dubbers still remain in striking distance but will have their work cut out for them. The Southpaws and Dubbers had the low team scores of the night with both shooting a total of 91.
The Dubbers, Southpaws, Fivesome and Rolling Stones all took six points. The Whizbangers took four points against the Fat Shafts who earned two points on the night.
The Closest to the Pin winners were Steve Powell on hole #7 and Stephen Westlake on hole #16. The 50/50 winner this week was Scott Burnie.
See you all next week.

Westlake Ties Low Gross
Stephen Westlake shot an impressive round of even par 27 to move into a three way tie for the Individual Low Gross with Paul Scobie and Andy Koetstra.
The Fat Shafts and KGB squared off in the battle of the top two teams and the Shafts took all six points to increase their team total to 74 points and overall lead to 19 points. The Dubbers slipped past the KGB into second spot with four points this evening while the Whizbangers earned five points and moved within two points of third.
The battle for fifth continues to be interesting as the Rolling Stones took six points and the Southpaws nabbed five points and are now tied for fifth with 37 points each. The Hackers took four points tonight while the Fivesome and CCCP each earned two points. The Wedgers and Latecomers both grabbed one point each.
The Closest to the Pin winners were Carl Troke on hole #4 and Jim Conley on hole #13. The 50/50 winner was Benny Brock.
Apologies for not having any photos or videos to post but I'm on holidays and was unable to attend. See you next week.

Dean Sinks Hole-in-One
![]() |
Rick Dean is all smiles after sinking a hole-in-one tonight. |
On what was the coolest evening we've had in some time we might have expected the scores to be pretty good overall but that wasn't the case as the majority of the rounds tonight were a tad high. Kyle Wilkinson shot a 28 for the lowest round of the night but not one team was able to score under 100.
Four teams swept their matches as the Dubbers, Rolling Stones, Whizbangers and Southpaws all took six points. The KGB grabbed five points while the Wedgers moved out of last place by taking four points. The Fivesome earned two points and a single point went to the CCCP. Dave Reid was this weeks 50/50 winner.
