Week Three Results

It was an absolutely perfect night for round three of the playoffs and our first night playing from the white tees and this allowed some teams to make some small moves. But with only one week remaining, will they be able to make up the difference?

In the "A" Flight the Fat Shafts were able to increase their lead slightly and will take a six stroke advantage over the KGB into the final nine holes. The Southpaws sit 12 strokes out while the Dubbers have slipped 25 shots back.

The Rolling Stones continue to have a commanding lead over the Whizbangers, although that lead did shrink slightly after tonight's round and the Stones sit in first with a 18 stroke advantage.

In the "C" Flight it also appears to be over as the Latecomers maintained their 14 stroke advantage going into week four ahead of the CCCP.

The low round of the evening was shared by Andy Koetstra, Steve Westlake and Tim Donaldson who all shot 29. Scott Reilly and Denis Schick both shot 30.The Closest to the Pin winners were Andy Koetstra on hole #7 and Adam Farkas on hole #16.

Let The Games Begin

Much like the start of last season, we didn't know when or how we'd get the season started but it finally happened tonight and hopefully the rest of the year will go smoothly.

To the new golfers joining us this season we are happy to have you join us and we hope you have a lot of fun.

The weather couldn't have been better as 11 teams hit the links for our friendly competition. Unfortunately the Bogies will not be taking part this year which means each week one team will get an automatic six points and can come out at their scheduled time for a round just for fun if they wish. Tonight, it was the Fat Shafts who received the six points and played for fun.

In actual matches there were four teams that took all six points up for grabs. The Hackers, Dubbers, Southpaws and KGB all swept their games. The Latecomers took four points and the CCCP earned two points in their return to play after missing last season. Happy to have them back.

Scott Reilly shot his best round ever, a 28, to earn the early lead for Individual Low Gross. The Southpaws set the mark to beat for Team Low Gross shooting a 99. The Closest to the Pin winners were Coady MacGillivary on Hole #1 and Stephen Westlake on Hole #10. The first 50/50 winner this year was Thom Christmann.

REMINDER: Please make sure you know your tee times and be sure to arrive at the course ONLY 10 MINUTES prior to your tee time. We can not have people hanging out in the parking lot before or after the rounds. Also remember if you haven't paid your league dues, please make sure you give Steve Powell your $30 next week. See you then.

2020 Playoffs - Round Two

That's it for the Blue Tees for this year and for some of us, it's welcome news as they proved to be troublesome on night two of the playoffs.

In the "A" Division the standings remain relatively tight and with two weeks remaining a good round by one team or a bad round by another could have a serious impact on things.

The Southpaws moved into first place by themselves with a low round of 94 for the night. That gives them an eight stroke lead over the second place Whizbangers and and nine stroke lead on the Dubbers and Rolling Stones. The KGB had a good night and are ten strokes back while the Fat Shafts continue to struggle and sit in last place 13 strokes off the pace.

The low rounds of the night were turned in by Jim Conley and Tim Donaldson who both shot 28. Kevin Wadsworth posted a two over par round of 29. Andy Koetstra won the Closest to the Pin prize on hole #2.

Over in the "B" Division, the Fivesome have a fairly comfortable lead. They shot a score of 107 and sit eight shots ahead of the Wedgers who turned in a score of 105. The Hackers are well back in third and are one stroke ahead of the Bogies.

Scott Reilly had the low round on this side shooting a 31. Eric Korver was close enough on hole #11 to win the Closest to the Pin.

Next week we start the last two weeks of playoffs with both week on the White tees. Check your tee times and we'll see you there.

"A" Division

1. Southpaws - 102 - 94 = 196
2. Whizbangers - 105 - 99 = 204
3. Dubbers - 107 - 98 = 205
3. Rolling Stones - 102 - 103 = 205
5. KGB - 110 - 96 = 206
6. Fat Shafts - 110 - 99 = 209

"B" Division

1. Fivesome - 100 - 107 = 207
2. Wedgers - 110 - 105 = 215
3. Hackers - 118 - 106 = 224
4. Bogies - 111 - 114 = 225

Happy Canada Day!

It looked as though the Canada Day holiday caused some issues for some tonight as three teams failed to provide competition in their matches on a warm but beautiful evening for golf.

The Whizbangers, Bogies and Fivesome all forfeited their matches when they didn't have enough players show up which made for an evening of golfing without any pressure for some.

The teams that earned points tonight were the Rolling Stones, Fat Shafts, Southpaws and KGB who all took six points. Andy Koetstra had the low round for the evening playing the back nine blues to a three over par 30. Stephen Westlake shot a 31 for the same nine holes. The Fat Shafts had the team low round of the night with a 95. The Southpaws shot a team score of 98.

The Closest to the Pin winners were Scott Reilly on hole #4 and Tim Donaldson on hole #13. The 50/50 winner was Mark Kennedy.

Please make sure your teams are set for next week and everyone knows their tee times.

Heat Doesn't Help

By far tonight’s round of golf was the warmest and most humid of the season but that didn’t translate into hot scoring.

The lowest team score of the evening was a 104 and Scott Reilly shot a solid round of 32 but nobody challenged the low scores of the year.

The first place Fat Shafts were gifted six points  after the second place Whizbangers were unable to field a team. Earning six points tonight were the now second place KGB, Bogies and Hackers. Four points each went to the CCCP and Dubbers while the Southpaws and Wedgers grabbed two points.

The Closest to the Pin winners were Paul Reid on hole #8 and Symen Korver on hole #17. The 50/50 winner was Don Muldoon.
