We haven’t quite arrived at Labour Day but it already felt quite autumn like as we began the playoffs tonight
In the “A” Division, the Rolling Stones got off to a solid start led by Al Wilkinson who shot a 27. The Stones sit in first with a total of 91. Grip It N Sip It are in second place after nine holes, just one shot back at 92. The Southpaws are two shots off the lead after posting a 93 and the Fat Shafts stumbled out of the gate and posted a score of 104 to sit 13 strokes off the lead.
Over in the “B” Division the Latecomers have the early lead after shooting a score of 97. Josh Hogan shot a round of 30 to lead his team. The KGB are four strokes back in second place after posting a 101. The Dubbers are 7 shots out of first after shooting a 104 and sitting in fourth place is the Fivesome who shot a 116 on night one.
The “C” Division is a bit more wide open but there are still plenty of holes left to play. The Whizbangers have the early lead after scoring a 108. Six strokes back in second place are the Wedgers with a 114. The CCCP posted a 120 and the Hackers are 13 strokes off the lead after shooting a 121.
The Closest to the Pin winners were Paul Scobie on hole 1 and Peter Hughes on hole 10. The 50/50 winner was Denis Schick.
We play the white tees again next Wednesday night before moving to the blue tees for 18 holes on Saturday September 9th.

Stones Tied For Second
Time is quickly slipping away to solidify team rankings heading into the playoffs. Just three weeks of regular season play remains. Steve Westlake tees off on hole 17.
The Rolling Stones were able to take six points from the Southpaws and slip into a second place tie with the lefties. The Stones have also guaranteed their place in the “A” division of the playoffs and they helped the Fat Shafts increase their first place lead to nine points after they took six points from the Hackers.
The Dubbers stumbled this week and allowed the KGB and Grip It N Sip It, who both took six points, to leap frog them and sit tied for fourth place.
The Wedgers and Hackers will be playing in the “C” Division of the playoffs as they mathematically can’t reach 8th place.
Also taking six points tonight were the Latecomers and CCCP.
The closest to the pin winners were Mark Lafee on hole 6 and Paul Scobie on hole 15. The 50/50 winner was Josh McDonald

Vangemeren Shoots Twenty Six
It’s not officially summer yet but things were definitely heating up on the course tonight with some great scores and the weather.
We have a new leader for the Individual Low Gross after Nick Vangemeren posted a one under par round of 26. His score combined with a pair of 30’s by Paul Scobie and Tim Donaldson improved the Southpaws Team Low Gross with an 86.
The Fat Shafts finally faltered and lost their first point of the season as they took five from the Whizbangers who earned a single point by splitting the net in their match.
The Southpaws, KGB, Dubbers and Rolling Stones all took six points. Grip It N Sip It grabbed four points and the Latecomers took two.
The closest to the pin winners were Thom Christmann on hole #8 and John Keuning on hole #17. The 50/50 winner was David Schwartz.
The schedule for next week shows we will be playing the white tees again but I was informed that it’s likely that we will be playing the blue tees instead. See you then.

Week Two Results & Schedule
Week two of the playoffs and the last round on the blues tightened things up for some and increased the lead for others with two weeks left to go.
In the "A" Flight the KGB gained ground on the Fat Shafts who now hold a slim one stroke lead. In the "B" Flight the Rolling Stones continued their impressive play and have increased their comfortable lead to 24 strokes over the now second place Whizbangers. In the "C" Flight the Latecomers have also stretched their lead to 14 strokes over both the Wedgers and CCCP. Denis Schick had the low round of the night shooting a 28.

Scobie Shoots Par
The blue tees proved to be a challenge for some again this week but for some it was a piece of cake. Paul Scobie had the low round of the night posting an even par 27. Marsh Ferguson fires away at hole 7.
Al Wilkinson and Andy Koetstra both shot two over 29 for the evening.
In the nights matches, four teams swept their opponents as the KGB, Southpaws, Fat Shafts and Dubbers all took six points. The Rolling Stones and CCCP came close by earning five points each while the Whizbangers and Hackers each settled for single points. The standings continue to be close with no one team running away with it at this point of the season.
The Closest to the Pin winners tonight were Randy Conley on hole #8 and Kal Hietala on hole #17. The 50/50 winner was Tom St.Denis. See you next week.

Southpaws Alone In First
With summer less than a week away from its official arrival the conditions, although a bit breezy, couldn't have been much better for tonight's round of golf.
The Southpaws had the low team round of the evening with a 99 and grabbed six points from the Latecomers to move into first place all alone. The Fat Shafts and KGB went into the evening tied for first but now both sit in a tie for second place after an even split earning three points each.
Also earning all six points tonight were the Hackers, Rolling Stones and Dubbers. The Whizbangers took five points which allowed the Wedgers to earn a single point.
Tim Donaldson tied the Individual Low Gross score by shooting a 28. Andy Koetstra and Rick Dean each shot rounds of 30.
The Closest to the Pin winners tonight were Paul Scobie on hole #3 and Randy Grills on hole #12. The 50/50 winner was Matt Knell.

Better Late Than Never
It was a hot round in more ways than one with some impressive scores and shots along with the extreme heat and humidity.
Denis Schick and Andy Koetstra set the mark to beat for Individual Low Gross as they both posted an even par round of 27. Al Wilkinson and Stephen Westlake also had impressive rounds with each of them finishing with 29. The Team Low Gross mark was set by the Fat Shafts who combined for a total of 87.
Three teams grabbed all six points up for grabs with the Fat Shafts, Southpaws and Whizbangers sweeping their matches. The Bogies took four points while the Dubbers and Rolling Stones battled to a tie and three points each. The Wedgers earned two points on the night.
The Closest to the Pin winners were Andy Koetstra on Hole #1 and Paul Scobie on Hole #10. Lyle Williams was the first 50/50 winner of the season.

2019 Playoffs - Round One
The biggest lead after night one is in the “A” Flight where the Fat Shafts will take a 12 stroke lead into round two after shooting an 88. The KGB shot 100 to sit in second, two strokes ahead of the Dubbers who posted a 102. The Whizbangers are 16 strokes off the lead after scoring a 104.
Over in the “B” Flight the battle for first is very close. The Fivesome, after shooting a round of 100, have the early lead by two strokes over the Southpaws who scored 102. The other two teams stumbled on night one as the Bogies shot 112 and the Rolling Stones finished with 114.
The CCCP find themselves with a bit of a cushion after night one. They posted a 106 and are seven strokes up on the second place Wedgers who shot 113. The Hackers were only one worse with a 114 while the Latecomers are 12 off the pace after shooting 118.
There were eight Closest to the Pin winners tonight. They included Kim Defosse, Rick Turtle, Andy Koetstra, Derek LeClair, Symen Korver, Tim Donaldson, Jim Lidster and Paul Scobie.
A lot can happen in a short time and no lead is safe as we’ve seen in the past. It’s back to the White tees next Wednesday and then on Saturday September 7th we’ll play the final 18 holes from the Blue tees followed by the wrap up party.

Bring On The Playoffs
In tonight’s play, the Bogies and Fivesome leapfrogged the Southpaws and CCCP to ensure their place in the “B” Flight. Also joining them there are the Rolling Stones and Southpaws.
The CCCP stumbled and dropped back to ninth spot to land in the “C” Flight with the Latecomers, Hackers and Wedgers.
The “A” Flight was already decided. The Fat Shafts finished in first place with an 18 point cushion over the KGB. The Dubbers and Whizbangers round out the top four spots.
Tim Donaldson, Andy Koetstra, Stephen Westlake and Paul Scobie share the seasons Individual Low Gross honours having all shot even par 27. The Team Low Gross for the year goes to the Fat Shafts with an 88.
The Closest to the Pin winners tonight were Peter Hughes on hole #8 and Taylor Rivando on hole #17. The 50/50 winner was Dave Powell.
Playoffs begin with the White tees the next two Wednesday’s and then on Saturday September 7th we’ll play the final 18 holes from the Blue tees followed by the wrap up party.

Taking all six points up for grabs in their matches were the Fivesome, Bogies, Fat Shafts and KGB who were awarded their points when the CCCP were unable to field a team. Earning four points each were the Dubbers and Whizbangers while the Hackers and Latecomers took two points.
The Other Closest to the Pin winner was Justin Timson on hole #9. The 50/50 winner was Derek LeClair.

Crowded Low Gross

The KGB who already held the Team Low Gross lead matched their low total of 92 again this evening but the Whizbangers also shot 92 and share that mark as well.
The Whizbangers took six points to move into second place behind the Fat Shafts who also earned six points to remain on top. The KGB grabbed five points while the Rolling Stones and Wedgers each took four. The CCCP and Fivesome halved their match for three points each. The Latecomers and Hackers both snagged two points while the Bogies left with a single point.
The Closest to the Pin winners were Mark Kennedy on hole #4 and Derek LeClair on hole #13. The 50/50 winner was Jimmy Rogers.

Fat Shafts Tie Low Gross
After coming close a few times, the Fat Shafts were able to finally tie the KGB for the Team Low Gross lead. Andy Koetstra shot 28, Stephen Westlake posted a 29 and Mark Kennedy shot 35 to combine for a 92. Paul Scobie also shot a one-over 28 to tie for the low round of the night. A total of five teams managed to post sub-100 team scores.
It was another feast or famine night in the matches as the Bogies, Fivesome, Latecomers, KGB, Fat Shafts and Southpaws all took six points. The closest to the pin winners were Denis Schick on hole #8 and Marty MacDonald on hole #17. The 50/50 winner was Benny Brock.
