Scobie Aces Fourteen

For the third time in just two weeks, a league member had a hole-in-one. Tonight it was Paul Scobie who achieved this honour as he drained his tee shot on hole 14 using a six iron.

Scobie’s luck didn’t end there.
Paul Scobie had a hole-in-one on hole 14.
He also picked up the closest to the pin prize on hole #18 and set the new mark to beat for the Individual Low Gross by shooting an even par 27. Denis Schick and Andy Koetstra also played well and shot 28 each. The low team score for the night was turned in by the Fat Shafts with a 95.

Taking all six points up for grabs in their matches were the Fivesome, Bogies, Fat Shafts and KGB who were awarded their points when the CCCP were unable to field a team. Earning four points each were the Dubbers and Whizbangers while the Hackers and Latecomers took two points.

The Other Closest to the Pin winner was Justin Timson on hole #9. The 50/50 winner was Derek LeClair.

Heat Doesn't Help

By far tonight’s round of golf was the warmest and most humid of the season but that didn’t translate into hot scoring.

The lowest team score of the evening was a 104 and Scott Reilly shot a solid round of 32 but nobody challenged the low scores of the year.

The first place Fat Shafts were gifted six points  after the second place Whizbangers were unable to field a team. Earning six points tonight were the now second place KGB, Bogies and Hackers. Four points each went to the CCCP and Dubbers while the Southpaws and Wedgers grabbed two points.

The Closest to the Pin winners were Paul Reid on hole #8 and Symen Korver on hole #17. The 50/50 winner was Don Muldoon.

Koetstra and Hietala are Aces

It was nice to get back to golf again after last weeks rain out and two golfers had even more reason to celebrate the round.

Andy Koetstra and Kory Hietala each shot a hole-in-one this evening. For Hietala it came on hole 3 with a 7 iron and for Koetstra it was jarred on hole 15 with a PW.
Andy and Kory all smiles after their aces tonight.
Congratulations to both of you.

The standings saw a bit of movement as the Fivesome dropped out of third place while the Whizbangers now have some company in second with the KGB. The Fat Shafts increased their lead atop the standings with the low round of the night. Five teams in total  posted scores in the 90’s.

Grabbing all six points in their matches tonight were the KGB, CCCP, Dubbers, Southpaws and the Fat Shafts. The Rolling Stones earned four points while the Whizbangers took two points.

The Closest to the Pin winners were Mark Adams on hole #7 and Marsh Ferguson on hole #16. The 50/50 winner was Denis Schick.

Terry Fox Fundraiser

As I'm sure many of you have noticed during your visits to the golf course this season, and in particular your visits to the bar, a fundraiser is taking place all summer in an effort to raise more money to help fight Cancer.

Every October the golf course hosts the Terry Fox Charity Golf Tournament to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society. Thousands have been raised thanks to everyone involved, including many of our league members who take part faithfully every year.

You can help to raise even more money this year with the 50/50 contest. For only $1 you can take a guess at how many golf tees are located in the large jar. The winner will be announced October 12th.

So if you have a spare Loonie or more, please take a moment to make a guess and help out a very worthy cause that has affected us all.

Rained Out Again

This has been another awful Spring and our league play is paying the price for it.

As I'm sure most are aware already, the incessant rain has forced us to cancel our round for tonight. We'll pick things up again next Wednesday night if all goes well.

See you next week!
