The unprecedented wildfire season continues to bring very bad air quality to our area but luckily we got our round in tonight before the worst of it arrived.
Unfortunately a couple of teams must have had players get lost in the haze as they had to forfeit their matches this evening.
Denis Schick and Andy Koetstra played well tonight and both shot two over par rounds of 29. Al Wilkinson and Dave Horner both shot 30.
In the nights matches, the Fat Shafts, Whizbangers, KGB, CCCP and Rolling Stones took six points each. The Southpaws earned four points while the Fivesome took two points.
The closest to the pin winners were Ron Eliens on hole 1 and Dave Walker on hole 10. The 50/50 winner was Jared Culkin.
See you next Wednesday as we tackle the blue tees again.

Southpaws Streak Stopped
The arrival of summer definitely turned up the heat after a cool Spring start to the season. Unfortunately for the Southpaws they weren’t able to keep their perfect hot start to the season going. Tim Donaldson tees off on hole 13.
In the head-to-head battle of the top two teams, the Fat Shaft used a score of 90 to hand the Southpaws their first blemish of the year. The Fat Shafts scored five points to move into first place. The Southpaws took a single point and sit two points back in second.
Taking all six points in their matches were the Dubbers, KGB, Rolling Stones and Latecomers. Grip It N Sip It took five points and the Whizbangers earned a single point.
The closest to the pin winners were Steve Rankin on hole 9 and Josh Hogan on hole 18. Ross Prophet was the 50/50 winner.
See you next Wednesday back on the white tees.

Horner On Fire Tonight
With the local fire ban lifted, David Horner of the KGB wasted no time turning up the heat by shooting a 2 under par round of 25 tonight. This gives Horner the lead for the Individual Low Gross.
The team scores were equally impressive tonight with the KGB shooting 88, the Fat Shafts posted a 90 and the Southpaws a 92.
In the evenings matches the Dubbers, KGB, Fat Shafts, Latecomers and Southpaws all took six points. The Fivesome grabbed five points while the Wedgers took one point.
The closest to the pin winners were David Horner on hole 8 and Tom St. Denis on hole 17. The 50/50 winner was Laurie Brown.
We hit the halfway point of the season next week when we return to the blue tees.

Memory Lane - 2015
I thought it might be fun from time to time to share short video clips from seasons past. They might be funny or impressive or even remind us of friends that have passed or just left the league.
In this video we have a little fun with Al Wilkinson of the Rolling Stones who chose to take a different approach to hole #4.

Wildfires Won't Stop Us
The smokey conditions and poor air quality from the wildfires to the north and in Quebec cleared out enough in time for tonight’s round.
Looking at the scores I think some took advantage of the improved conditions while others clearly had smoke in their eyes. Andrew Moran shot an impressive round of 28 which was one stroke shy of tying the individual low gross.
In the evenings matches it was another night of clean sweeps as Grip It N Sip It, Rolling Stones, Fat Shafts, KGB, Southpaws and Wedgers all took six points.
The closest to the pin winners were Andrew Moran on hole 7 and Matt Knell on hole 16. The 50/50 winner was Eric Korver.
Back to the white tees next week.
