Blues Were Buggy and Boiling

The sweltering heat and humidity combined with the constant buzzing of bugs made playing from the blue tees extra challenging tonight.

I couldn’t even find time to take any photos or videos tonight as I was either trying to dry off, swing or defend myself.

In the evenings matches, the Dubbers moved up two places into fourth spot after taking four points and leapfrogging the KGB and Grip It N Sip It. The CCCP took two points.

Elsewhere the Fivesome, Whizbangers and Fat Shafts all took six points. In a very tight match the Southpaws earned five points while the Latecomers took one point. The Rolling Stones took four points while Grip It N Sip It finished with two points.

The closest to the pin winners were Jordan Mercer on hole #4 and Gerry Fox on hole #13. The 50/50 winner was Kim Defosse.

We’re back to the white tees next week and hopefully more comfortable temperatures. See you then.

Bug Bites and Bogies

Judging by some of the scores posted this evening, I can only assume the plentiful mosquitoes were causing havoc with some games. Aside from the bugs, the summer heat was back again to make for a sticky night on the links.

There wasn’t much change to the overall standings. The Latecomers, Bogies and CCCP all took six points. Four points each were earned by the Fat Shafts, KGB and Dubbers. The Southpaws, Fivesome and Hackers took two points each.

Andy Koetstra shot the low round of the night with a 28. The low team score was turned in by the Fat Shafts with a 95. The Southpaws were the only other team under the century mark with a 99.

The Closest to the Pin winners were Neil Nelson on hole #1 and Jordan Mercer on hole #10. The 50/50 winner was Andy Koetstra.

Powell Joins Pack

It was another cool and overcast Wednesday evening but luckily the weather cooperated with just a few raindrops during the round.

The already crowded Individual Low Gross leader board now has a seventh name added to it as Jerry Powell shot a 29 to join the group at that score.
Coady MacGillivary takes aim at hole #8.
Andy Koetstra also shoot 29 but is already among the low scorers.

The Fat Shafts nearly tied the Team Low Gross leaders but only managed to shoot a 94 for the low score of the night. That was good enough to earn them six points to increase their lead in the standings slightly.

The other teams that swept all six points in their matches were the Fivesome, Bogies, KGB and Rolling Stones. The Whizbangers took four points while the Dubbers grabbed two points.

The Closest to the Pin winners were Peter Hughes on hole #5 and Jim Turner on hole #14. The 50/50 winner was Jordan Mercer.

KGB Clinch League

With only one week of regular season play remaining, the KGB assured themselves a league title with their outing tonight. With a ten point lead they're can't be caught.

The Rolling Stones and Southpaws will also be in the "A" Flight in the playoffs. Despite the Whizbangers being completely absent for their match this evening they still have a chance to tie the Fat Shaft for the fourth spot, however I'm unaware of what the tie-breaker would be.

The final positions for both the "B" and "C" flights are also still up for grabs for a few teams and the final week will decide where the Wedgers, Bogies, Latecomers and Fivesome will finish.

In this evenings matches, Rolling Stones, Dubbers and Wedgers took six points while five points went to the Fivesome. The Southpaws and KGB each earned four points while two points each went to Latecomers and Fat Shafts. A single point was all the Hackers could grab.

The lowest round of the night was turned in by Kyle Wilkinson with a one over par 28. The closest to the pin winners were Tom St.Denis on hole #6 and Jordan Mercer on hole #15. The 50/50 winner was Jim Lidster.

Congratulations goes out to two league members who won the Club Championship on the weekend. Tim Donaldson won the Men's Division while Stephen Westlake won the Senior Men's Division. Many other league members had impressive rounds on the weekend as well.
